Michael Bernard Caflin Obituary

Johnstown, Pennsylvania - Caflin - Michael Bernard, 76 of Johnstown, Pa., died January 25, 2026, at his mountain home. Born March 24, 1949, in Phillipsburg, N.J., son of the late Bernard and Eileen Caflin.

Survived by his siblings, Patrick Caflin, Dennis Caflin, and Eileen Papson; nieces, nephews and many close friends, including his caregiver, Jean Riek and her family.

Michael earned a B.A. in Philosophy and English Literature from Mt. St. Mary's University, and an Associate Degree in Information Management from the Community College of the Air Force, and he was currently attending St. Vincent College. He successfully competed in the Pa. Senior Olympics in Track and Field and Basketball. He was also a member of the American Fencing Association and competed against National and International Fencers.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force and Pa. Air National Guard from 1968-2009 as a Special Electronic Warfare Intelligence Analyst. Mike was a combat veteran in Vietnam and the Afghanistan War on Terror. He also flew IED missions to the Philippines and Iraq. He was a life member of the VFW Posts 1103 and 155, and the Catholic War Veterans. Mike was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernian of Johnstown, Pa.

Friends received from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd., Johnstown, Pa. 15905.

Mike was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Brownstown, where his Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 5, 2026, Fr. Mark Begly and Fr. Timothy Harris TOR.

Interment will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to any Veteran Organization in memory of Michael B. Caflin.
