Mount Hope, PA - CORNELL - Michael P., 73, Mount Hope, died Nov. 11, 2025. Born Jan. 6, 1952, in Johnstown, son of Richard L. "Dick" and Caroline (Colosimo) Cornell. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Lewis; mother-in-law, Irene "Jo" Crute; and brother-in-law, Dan Susko. Survived by wife of 50 years, Pamela (Crute) Cornell, whom he married May 3, 1975; son, Shawn, married to Amy (Zimmerman); daughter, Samantha Cornell; grandchildren, Donovan and Devon; sisters, Carolyn Susko and Patricia Gill; numerous nieces and nephews; father-in-law, David Crute; and sister-in-law, Peggy, wife of Paul Glacken. Mike was a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Class of 1971. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Air Force, serving stateside during Vietnam. After his time in uniform, Mike built a long career as an auto body mechanic with McQuaide Trucking. He coached Legion Baseball for St. Michael, sharing not only his love of the game but also the values of teamwork and respect. At home, Mike had another side, one that brought warmth and flavor to those around him. He loved to cook, to bake, and especially to fire up the grill. We carry with us his lessons, his laughter, and his love. Mike's hands may be at rest, but the good he built; in his work, his community, and his family, will endure.
