CHARNEY – Michael J. “Montana Larkins,” 84, South Fork, formerly of Mine 42, died Jan. 31, 2012, at Windber Hospice. Born March 20, 1927, in Johnstown, son of John and Elizabeth (Garber) Charney. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Elizabeth M. (Richards) Charney, who died Sept. 25, 2011; and grandson, Chad Charney. Survived by children, Gloria Berkey, Johnstown; Michael, married to Patricia Pearce, Windber; Christine, wife of Robert Fyock, South Fork; Deborah Wilt, Nanty Glo; and Patricia Wilt, Osterburg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Violet Pavlosky, Windber; and Ethel Reed, Johnstown. Mike was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired coalminer from Berwind-White Coal Mining Co. No viewing or visitation. Private entombment service at Richland Mausoleum.
