CHYNOWETH - Patricia E. (O'Connor), 83, Davidsville, died Feb. 5, 2011 , at Windber Hospice. Born July 11, 1927, in Forwardstown, Somerset County, daughter of J. Paul and Maude (Rininger) O'Connor. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 48 years, James R. Jr. on Dec. 21, 1995; son, James Patrick; and brothers, Frederick, Robert, Francis, Edgar, Paul and Donald O'Connor. Survived by children, Daniel M., York; Jeffrey B. "Jed," married to former Margaret Bettle, Davidsville; Timothy P., married to former Cynthia Schannauer, Denver, Pa.; Kevin J., Blough; Patricia K. Gathers, North Wales, Pa.; and Philip Randall, Bensalem; grandchildren, Jason, Katey, Kris, Meghan, Emily, Erin and Zoe; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Eve, Cecilia, Mary and Lydia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also many individuals that she favorably impacted in the community. Patricia was a postmaster for 33 years serving in Davidsville, Berlin and Hollsopple, and was awarded Pennsylvania Postmaster of the Year in 1986 and 1995. She also held numerous leadership roles for community organizations including treasurer of Conemaugh Township, Class of 1945, Chairman of United Federal Campaign (PA) and National Chairman of US Postmaster Legislative Committee. In 2005, she established a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration of the O'Connor Cemetery, where she will be interred. Member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Davidsville, NARFE and NAPUS. Former member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Benscreek. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing pinochle, being out in nature and watching Notre Dame and Steelers football. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Richland Woods and Windber Hospice for all their loving care. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a vigil for the deceased will be held Wednesday afternoon. The family will then have an old Irish Wake at Pat's home on Thursday and Friday. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne Church, Davidsville, the Rev. Father Michael Lewandowski and Father Henry L. Joly, celebrants. Committal to follow at O'Connor Cemetery.
