Philip D. Hillegas
"Pat," 85, South Fork, died peacefully September 20, 2019, at Forest Hills Personal Care Home. Born November 21, 1933, in South Fork, son of George F. and Catherine (Stiffler) Hillegas. Preceded in death by parents; beloved wife, Joanne M. (Penatzer) Hillegas, who died August 31, 1990; granddaughter, Sara Hillegas; sisters, Pauline J. Wingard, Lois Belanto, and Nadine Bailey; and brother, Garnet J. "Mike" Hillegas. Survived by children, Cindy (Richard) Steffee, Indiana, Pennsylvania; Bret (Susie Mazzone), Hudson, Florida; Duane (Rebecca Paterson), Hanover, Pennsylvania; Michele Hillegas, Tustin, California; and Shawn (Catherine Duran), Burien, Washington; dear friend, Reba Vasas, Sidman; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and in-laws, Robert (Mary Lou) Penatzer, Ebensburg; J. Martin (Erika) Penatzer, Mountain Ranch, California; and Gladys Hillegas, South Fork. Pat was a US Army veteran and graduate of Adams Summerhill High School, class of 1952. Retired owner and operator of Hillegas Bus Co. and authorized Pittsburgh Paints dealer since 1968. Member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, two-time past president of South Fork Lions Club and past associate director of the Home Builders Association. He loved spending time with family and friends, was an antique car enthusiast, and enjoyed watching sports; especially Pirates baseball. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork, where vigil will be held and Lions will hold their service at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Father Joseph C. Nale Celebrant. Committal, St. James Cemetery. Special thanks to Christine and all the staff of Forest Hills Personal Care Home and AseraCare Hospice for their kindness and support. Pat was a very nice man...a good bus driver for my children way back when .. and he always helped me pick just the right paint for the job...May GOD bless and comfort his family now have a very special angel! So sorry for your loss....
