Rayford was a graduate of Richland High School. He was a US Army veteran and member of Locust Grove Church of the Brethren. He was employed for many years at Thiele Truck Body Manufacturing in Windber, United Metals and W.C. McQuaide. Ray was a very hard worker and he loved farming, raising beef cattle, horses and many other animals for most of his life.
