Munster Township - CICERO - Richard "Rick," 66, Munster Township, passed away at home on April 29, 2025, after a valiant battle with stage 4 multifocal glioblastoma brain cancer, surrounded by his family. There is now a void in our hearts that will never be filled. He was born on Feb. 24, 1959, and preceded in death by parents, Joseph and June (McClure) Cicero; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Adeline (Walkovich) Penrod; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins who filled his youth with fond memories and happy times. Rick is survived by his wife, Catherine (Penrod), with whom he celebrated 41 years of marriage; his daughters, Danielle (Joseph) Stanley, Robinson Township, and Nicole (James) Itle, Portage. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Lauren June Stanley, Charlotte Adella Itle, Connor Joseph Stanley, and Madalynn Jo Itle, and by siblings: Carol; Joseph, and wife Mary (Greevey); Karen, and husband Michael Calandra; Roger; and Jayne, and husband, Fred Baldwin; sisters-in-law, Paula, and husband Ivan Dzombak, and Jackie, and husband Andrew Speizman; and aunts and uncles: Florence (McClure) and Thomas Mack; Phillip "Cheech" and Norma Cicero; and Patricia Walkovich. Rick also enjoyed the blessings of numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews: Ryan Cicero, Caleigh Williams; RaeChele (Kelly) Latterner, Michele (Rob) Smith, and Joshua (Jill) Cicero; Christina (Shane) Companey, Mark Calandra; Matthew (Keziah) Cicero, Anthony Cicero, and Stephanie Cicero; Christopher (Thu Pham) Dzombak, Rebecca Dzombak and Nikolas Midttun, and Jesse (Anna) Dzombak; Hanna Speizman and Rachel Speizman; Camron, Drew, and Evan Latterner; Luca Cicero; Quentin and Henry Companey; and Salah, Sahar, Safi and Sirai Cicero. Rick was a 1977 graduate of Penn Cambria High School and a 1989 graduate of St. Francis University. He was employed by UPS, and enjoyed his route throughout Hollidaysburg, and retired in 2014. He enjoyed working as an usher with the Altoona Curve, Section 108. Rick was also employed by Cambria County as the jury van driver, and was affectionately known as the "Van Man." He enjoyed golfing and bowling with his friends, attending Pirate games, collecting classic cars, listening to classic rock, and enjoying time with his family and his pups. Rick was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Ebensburg, and was a life member of the St. Pietro de Roma Italian Club (Cresson) and the Bavarian Aid Society (Altoona). Our family would like to thank Joe, Mary and their family, and AseraCare Hospice, especially Courtney, Michelle, Beth, Ally, Steve, Duane, Erica, Pastor Rodney, and Dr. Tamara Hoffman for enabling us to care for Rick at home. Friends will be received on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Serenko-Claar Funeral Home, Main Street, Portage, and on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Church, Ebensburg, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m., Father Brian Warchola, presiding.
