Johnstown, Pennsylvania - PETERS - Rita (Oppy), 95, Richland, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2026, with family by her side. Born on June 15, 1930, in Alum Bank, daughter of William and Arietta (Heidorn) Oppy. Preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 71 years, Kenneth D. Peters; and siblings, William Oppy Jr. and Charlotte Rhodes. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte L. (Ben) Goller, Johnstown; granddaughters, Ashley (Darren) Brown, Chambersburg; Jessica (Jeremy) Stempka, Erie; and Trista (Darren) Eades, Bridgeport, W.Va.; great-granddaughters, Rowan and Kennedy Eades, and Hannah Brown; sister-in-law, Donna Hibbard, Mineral Point; and her buddy, Bella. Rita worked for Acme Markets in Woodvale, and then retired from the Mine, Safety & Health Administration after 20 years of service. After retirement, she worked as a grandmother at the Richland Learning Center. She was a member of Bethany Church of Richland. Rita enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and loved boating at Raystown. She also enjoyed watching sports especially PSU football and the Army-Navy game. She loved her entire family, especially her grand and great-granddaughters. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at Bethany Church of Richland, 112 Leventry Road, with the Rev. Adam Dotts officiating.
