Portage, PA - "Bob," 77, of Portage, went to his heavenly home on February 28, 2026. He was surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on July 9, 1948, in Altoona, Pa., the son of William P. Sr. and Betty (Buckreis) Antesberger. He is preceded in death by his father, William; and mother, Betty Antesberger; grandparents, Karl and Barbara (Heigl) Antesberger and Fred and Elizabeth Buckreis; father-in-law, Joseph R. Duffy; and mother-in-law, Mary Louise Duffy; brother-in-law, Patrick M. Duffy; and nephew, Matthew Eppley. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Duffy) Antesberger; brother-in-law, Michael Duffy, married to Lorrie (Otto); children, Maureen Antesberger and partner Donald Kern Jr.; Robert R. Antesberger Jr., married to Carrie (Smith); Timothy Antesberger, married to Erica (Cargill); brother, William P. Antesberger Jr., married to Janet (Rosey); sisters, Linda, married to Larry Langham; Mary Frances, married to George Heidorn; Renee Finnegan and longtime partner, Sonny Wertz; stepchildren, Tamara, married to Garrick Kruis Sr.; Heather, married to Ross Miller; and several nieces and nephews. Bob will be sadly missed by his 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren on the way. Bob graduated from Bishop McCort in 1966 and enlisted in the Navy and he served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. When Bob returned from the military he attended UPJ, where he acquired a degree in mathematics. He was a teacher and basketball coach at Johnstown Vo-Tech. He later became a bank manager then a manager of American General Finance. He earned the title "Manager of the Year" several times during the years of service with this company. Bob was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wilmore. He attended Mass every Sunday, on Holy Days and he attended Holy Hour and the Rosary every Thursday. He also was a CCD teacher at St. Elizabeth Seaton Church in Windber for many years. Bob was famous as a CCD teacher for using Bill Cosby's "Noah's Ark" tape to teach. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and dedicated dog-father to Baby and Patrick. Bob's kind and gentle nature allowed him to make friends easily. He always put other people's needs first. He enjoyed sports and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He always looked forward to attending his family reunions. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of a Celebration of Life Mass at 11 a.m. on Wednesday March 4, 2026, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Wilmore, Fr. Joseph Nale, Celebrant.
