Ronald Wilson Obituary

Scottsdale, AZ - Wilson - Ronald, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away on April 23, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Ron was born in Johnstown, Pa., to William and Kathleen Wilson. He graduated from Johnstown High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh, where he received his B.A. in Metallurgical Engineering. He worked most of his life in the aerospace industry for companies including General Electric, Rolls Royce and Honeywell.

Ron was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He loved his family and rarely missed an event that involved his granddaughter, Zoe. As a strong proponent of girls' sports, he helped found the girls' softball league in Greenhills, Ohio. For many years, he coached his daughter, Eileen, and other youth softball and soccer teams. If a team needed a coach, Ron would happily take the assignment. He was thrilled when Zoe excelled at soccer and loved attending her games.

Ron was married to Mary Jo (Calafiore) for 58 years. Before her passing in 2018, they loved to travel, often bringing Zoe on their adventures, and to host gatherings for family and friends. Ron had a wonderful sense of humor and especially enjoyed British comedy, i.e. Monty Python, happy hour, and a cold beer after work - or anytime. Ron will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ron is preceded in death by sisters, Kathleen and Vera, and brothers, Duncan and Bill.

He is survived by his daughter, Eileen (John Steinhauer), granddaughter, Zoe Wilson Steinhauer, daughter, Susan Wilson (Jerry Ockenfels); son, Joseph Wilson; brother, Alan (Carol); and many nieces and nephews including Jim Sharer of Johnstown.
