Russell E Martin
September 7, 1935 - August 30, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Martin, a beloved father, friend, and passionate sports fan, who left us on August 30, 2025. He was 89 years old. Russell was a man of simple joys, finding peace in the great outdoors and in the company of his family and friends. He was an avid fan of the Steelers and Pirates, a love that he passed down to those who knew him well. Russell's love for nature was equally profound. An avid fisherman and hunter, he spent countless hours in the quiet of the woods or by the water. He had been a member of the Moose since 1955 and loved spending time in the afternoons having a cold one with his buddies and will be dearly missed. Russell is survived by his daughters, Renee (Tony) Harris, FL, Lori (Dennis) Catlin, WI, Sandy (Ted) Worthington, Nanty Glo, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by wife Johanna (Yoses) Martin, son Russell "Junior" Martin, parents Rusty and Emaline (Monborne) Martin. Rest in peace, Russell. You will always be remembered and missed but never forgotten. Family and friends will be received at the Bowser Ondriezek Funeral Home, Nanty Glo, on Monday, from 2 until the time of the Memorial Service at 4. Deacon James Janosik, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery, Ebensburg.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
