Charlottesville, VA - WALTER - Ruth Diane "Mimi" (Syphrit), 90, of Charlottesville, VA, died July 22, 2026, in Charlottesville. Born April 1, 1936, in Colver, PA, daughter of the late Harvey and Veronica (Trachok) Syphrit. Also preceded in death by husband, R. Alton "Quincy" Walter. Survived by son, Craig Walter; daughter, Kara Walter; and grandchildren, Briana, Ciara and Blake Farnsworth. Ruth was a 1954 graduate of J.B.J. Joint High School, Boswell, and attended a business school in Philadelphia. She worked as a secretary for the Merchant Marines in Washington, D.C., and owned and operated Skateland in Waynesboro, PA. She was a lifelong learner who loved reading, religion, sewing, writing, poetry, history, animals and politics. She was also a member of the Elks Club. Viewing from 11 a.m. until time of service noon Friday at Jennerstown Community Church, 1673 E. Pitt St., Jennerstown, PA, with Pastor Patrick M. Buckner, presiding.
