Portage, PA - ALEXANDER - Sharon L., 77, of Portage Township, passed away July 12, 2026, at home. She was born on Jan. 20, 1949, in Johnstown. Sharon was the daughter of Stanley and Thora (Gallagher) Shall. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, James Shall. Sharon is survived by her husband, Edward R. Alexander Sr., and their children: Edward R. Alexander Jr., and his wife Judi (Maquilken), of Portage; Stacy (Alexander) Rokus, and her wife, Katie, of Annapolis; and Brent Alexander, and his husband, Ross Swanson, of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Emma Alexander and Thor Rokus. Sharon was the sister of Philip Shall, and his wife Deborah, of Ebensburg, and Daniel Shall, of Altoona. She was a 1967 graduate of Forest Hills High School. For many years, Sharon dedicated her time to serving her community as an administrative assistant in Portage for former State Representative Gary Haluska, a position she held until her retirement. Throughout her life, Sharon brought passion and energy to everything she did. In her earlier years, she was an active member of the Portage Women's Club, loved bowling, lent her voice to the St. Joseph's choir, and shared her enthusiasm as a coach for the St. Joseph's Flames cheerleaders. At home, she found peace and joy in tending to her many plants and beautiful flower gardens, and she cherished the frequent motorcycle rides she took with Ed, her devoted husband of 56 years. Above all, Sharon's greatest joy was her family. Her proudest moments came from celebrating her children and their many accomplishments in sports, music, and life. Later, she stepped into the role of a loving grandmother, a favorite pastime where she playfully shared her deep love for animals and music with the next generation. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, from 4 p.m. until time of 6 p.m. funeral service at the Matthew R. Decort Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. Inurnment to be held privately in St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery in Wilmore. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to Pinnacle Hospice and especially to Scott, Tanya, Nicole, Courtney, Jesse, and LeeAnn for their care and kindness.
