Dr. Sheldon Clare, 86, Tucson, AZ (formerly of Johnstown, PA) died of natural causes February 13, 2024. Sheldon was married to Beth Rapoport (deceased 2006) and is survived by his three children: Andrew (Kim) Clare of Corydon, Indiana; Joseph (Susie) Clare of Beaver, PA; Ellen (Issac) Slobodnik of Steamboat Springs, CO. Sheldon had five grandchildren: Joshua and Daniel Clare; Codi Clare-Coghlan and Ty (Ceri) Coghlan; and Elijah Clare.

Sheldon is a retired professor from the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown where he taught for 38 years. He loved his Johnstown Jewish community and offered his leadership as well as his love of music singing in the Beth Shalom choir. More recently he adored his Tucson Jewish community, teaching Yiddish at the JCC, singing in the Tucson MasterWorks choir as well as the Temple Kol Ami congregational choir. He will be missed by the Bronx Club and his beloved ROMEOS group.

A short funeral service and burial will be held at Grandview Cemetery, 801 Millcreek Rd, Johnstown, PA 15905, April 19th at 1:00PM.
