90, of Conemaugh Township, Cambria County, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on March 24, 2025. Born on October 22, 1934, in Johnstown, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Dickert) Reed. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sandra J. Pudliner; son, George D.; brother, William H.; sisters, Janice C. Neidig, and Ruth E. Laco; brothers-in-law, Rudy Galadya, William Rzeszut, Paul, Edward and James Gartrell, Joseph Laco, Charles Siplivy, George Hurtack, and Edward Rzeszut; sisters-in law, Elizabeth Galadya, Madeline Siplivy, Erna Kaminsky, and Joan Rzeszut. Survived by loving husband of 72 years, George R. Gartrell; grandsons, Ryan S. (Shelby) Gartrell, John E. III, and Wesley A. Pudliner, of Pittsburgh; great-grandchildren, Reed, Logan, and Lilly Gartrell; son-in-law, John E. Pudliner Jr., Johnstown; sisters-in-law, Barbara Hurtack, Mundys Corner; Diana Rzeszut, Johnstown; Evelyn Rzeszut, East Lake, Ohio; and Delores Gartrell, Ebensburg; brothers-in-law, Charles Rzeszut, Windber; Victor (Kathryn) Gartrell, Windber; and Paul Kaminsky, Johnstown; and numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was a 1952 graduate from Franklin-Conemaugh Township High School and also a member of the Alumni Association. She retired after 22 years of service as an LPN from Conemaugh Hospital. Shirley was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Allegheny Lutheran Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing Scrabble with her sister, Ruth; gardening, where she grew tomatoes until last year; and snowmobiling with her husband, George. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon on Friday at the Baker Funeral Chapel and Cremation Services, 229-231 First Street, Conemaugh, with the Rev. Michael Vandyke officiating. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
