Shirley Ann Stevens

97, of Davidsville, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at her home. She was born on May 2, 1928, to Ralph W. and Ruth E. (Rhine) Smith, and was adopted at a young age by her maternal uncle, John Rhine, and his wife, Ruth. Shirley was a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School and later served as Ice Queen for the Johnstown Jets, a role she held with pride. On November 10, 1953, she married the love of her life, Robert Glenn Stevens, a descendant of Joseph Johns, who preceded her in death on May 18, 1987. (Her birth mother, Ruth Smith, also passed on May 18 in 1928.) Together, she and Robert built a life centered on family, commitment, and enduring love. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Robert E. Smith. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her son, Richard Stevens and his wife Luann, of Windber; daughter, Roberta "Robin" Cordek and her husband James, of Davidsville; and daughter, Nancy Thomas and her husband Jeffrey, of Pennsville, N.J. Shirley was a loving grandmother to Jacob Stevens, Keith Gindlesperger, Lisa Lees, Katherine Hostetler, Sarah Cordek, Aaron Thomas, Benjamin Thomas and Nicholas Thomas and a great-grandmother to Julian, Luca, Esme´, Edward, Julia, John, Luke, Luna and Penny. She was a former employee of National Radiator and Ophthalmic Associates both of Johnstown. One of Shirley's proudest accomplishments was tracing her lineage to the Mayflower. She was a member of the Mayflower Society and treasured the opportunity to visit Plymouth, Massachusetts, a meaningful journey that deeply connected her to her family history. She will be remembered for her needlework, knitting, quick smile and her willingness to help others. She was honored by Laurel View Village for over 3,000 hours of volunteer time and was a member of St. David's Lutheran Church. Viewing from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 109 Church Road, Davidsville, where a service will be held 11a.m. Saturday with Pastor Wes Yoder presiding.
