Stella R. Shortencarrier
98, Bakerton passed away January 10, 2020 at AristaCare at Hillsdale Park. She was born August 14, 1921 in Ashville, PA the daughter of William and Rose (Rhoa) Gauntner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank "Shuty" Shortencarrier, granddaughter, great grandson, sisters Florence Gauntner, Goldie Daugherty, Marie Ivory and Mae Long, brothers Roy, James and William "Sparky" Gauntner. She is survived by her sons William F. "Shuty" (Brenda) Shortencarrier, Northern Cambria and James (Regina) Shortencarrier, Bakerton, five grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, brother Charles "Chick" Gauntner, Hastings, sister Emma Hall, Altoona and numerous nieces and nephews. Stella spent her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and was also formerly employed at the Bakerton School and did housekeeping for various families. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown, and was an avid bingo player and enjoyed going to church picnics and reading. Friends will be received from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home, Inc. 146 N. Main St. Carrolltown where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Carrolltown. Rev. Jude W. Brady O.S.B., celebrant.
