Harrisburg, PA - 94, of Harrisburg, formerly of Johnstown, passed away November 30, 2025. Born November 27, 1931, in Johnstown, the son of Nicholas and Martha (Lickvar) Martyak. Preceded in death by parents; his loving wife, Barbara Martyak; and son-in-law, Bradford Lewis. Survived by children, Susan Lewis, of Massachusetts; Mark Martyak, married to Patti (Bross), of North Carolina; and Kim St. Clair, married to Gregory, of Pennsylvania; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joseph Martyak, John Martyak, George (Mary Muccioli) Martyak, Michael Martyak, and Nicholas (Eleanor Brilhart) Martyak; sisters, Olga (Michael) Mesaros, Julia (John) Stemplick, and Mary (Kenneth) Lees; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was employed with Bethlehem Steel for 11 years before joining Penelec. He then worked at Penelec for 25 years before retiring. He was the president of Penelec's bowling league and loved bowling with his co-workers. Steve was a member of the Russian Club, a member of the Windber, Ferndale, and Jenner Fishing Clubs, and loved to cook, especially his signature dishes - potato pagachi and pierogies. Stephen was a member of Christ the Saviour Cathedral, where he also served as the Treasurer of the Educational Center for 30 years. Steve was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud, joy-filled grandfather. His family extends heartfelt thanks to all his nieces and nephews who stayed close and kept in touch with him throughout the years. He was known and loved by all who had the privilege of meeting him. Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Francis G. Ozog Funeral Home Inc. Panachida will follow at 7 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the Saviour Cathedral, The Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak. Committal will follow at Christ the Saviour Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Steve to Christ the Saviour Cathedral at 300 Garfield Street, Johnstown, PA 15906.
