Nywot, Co - Susanne "Sue" Parnell Martin Bloomfield, of Niwot, Colorado, died on July 4, 2026, after an extended illness.

Born in Windber, Pennsylvania, on March 19, 1942, to Andrew B. and Lois Parnell Martin, Sue was the younger of two daughters. She graduated from Windber High School in 1960 and followed her father and sister to Juniata College in Pennsylvania, graduating in 1964.

After college, Sue moved to Colorado, where she met and married John E. Bloomfield of Lyons. They were married for 58 years before he predeceased her in 2023.

Sue significantly impacted the lives of thousands of students and colleagues while teaching science at Vikan Middle School in Brighton for more than 35 years.

Sue was a resident of Niwot for 43 years. She loved her dogs, spending time with friends, and taking numerous trips with her husband in their RV. She was an avid reader, gardener, and cook. Sue enjoyed sharing the bounty of her large backyard garden and treats from her kitchen. One of her specialties was spritz cookies. No one could make them better, and her family looked forward to receiving them each Christmas.

Sue is survived by her sister, Lois Bee Martin Doyle of Birmingham, Alabama; her brother-in-law, Robert; and several nieces and nephews.

A private interment was held at Foothills Garden of Memories in Longmont.
