MENTZER – Thomas J. “Daddy O,” 50, Gallitzin, died Nov. 3, 2011, at ARHS-Altoona Hospital. Born Feb. 25, 1961, in Altoona, son of James D. and Cecelia R. (Koza) Mentzer. Preceded in death by his father on July 25, 1997; sister, Donna; and in-laws, Robert and Lois (O'Neil) Koons. Survived by wife, the former Michelle “Mokey” Koons, whom he married May 16, 1987, at St. Aloysius Church; and daughters, Reyne (Travis Musselman) and Sara (Mikey Krozel), both at home; his mother of Gallitzin; brothers, Ronald  (Sharon Morrison), Gallitzin; Larry (Nina Stringent), Cresson; and Stan (LeAnn) Olsick, Coupon; special cousin, Andrew “Ganuke” Enedy, Cresson; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; also sisters- and brothers-in-law, Carol (Jeff) Illig, Cresson; Rose (Mike) Cox, Rockville, Md.; Donna (Brian) Keith, Cresson; Maureen (Ken) Myers, Cresson; Mary Jo (Al) Becher, Bowie, Md.; Barbara (Ken) Cameron, Cresson; and Anna (Mike) Cretella, Monroe, Conn. A 1979 graduate of Penn Cambria High School. He worked as a truck driver for Sheetz Inc. and for Ron LeComte U.S. Mail Couriers and Algas for 21 years. Member of Gallitzin Area Ambulance Service, where he was an EMT and driver. He was an avid Curve fan, enjoyed car shows, motorcycles and cutting grass and was caretaker for Union Cemetery, Gallitzin. Member of St. Demetrius Church, Gallitzin, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Albert Ledoux, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary Cemetery. Friends received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gibbons Funeral Home, 301 Church St., Gallitzin, where vigil service will be held Sunday. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Gallitzin Area Ambulance Service in Tom’s memory.
