Altoona, Pennsylvania - ZAVALANSKI - Valentine "Butch," 72, of Altoona, and a native of Coupon, passed away Sept. 12, 2025, at UPMC Altoona. Born on Jan. 20, 1953, in Altoona, son of the late Valentine and Helen (Carrig) Zavalanski. Preceded in death by brother, Joseph. Survived by wife of 35 years, the former Suzanne (Hetrick) Zavalanski, and daughter, Isabella, at home. Also brother, Michael (Sharon) Zavalanski, Reedville, Virginia; sisters, Nancy Ball, Duncansville, and Robin (Joe) Chirdon, Altoona; sister-in-law, Marie "Tootsie" Zavalanski, Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews. Butch was the co-owner/operator of Image Signs Inc., Altoona. A member of the Juniata United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his nephews, having a few beers, baseball, playing pool, stock car racing, his pets, and being his mischievous self, always joking around. He absolutely adored his daughter who was the apple of his eye. He also enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, Suzie. He will be deeply missed by the community and his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Gibbons-Houser Funeral Home Inc., 301 Church St., Gallitzin, Pa., where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Bill Blair, officiating. Interment at East Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Butch's memory made be made to the American Heart Association or the Western Pennsylvania Humane Society.
