Windber, PA - MAKUCH - Verna 95, Windber, passed away July 13, 2026, at Hilltop Heights. Born Nov. 25, 1930, in Windber, daughter of the late Paul and Verona (Kornoci) Fedorisko. Preceded in death by brothers, Paul, John and George. Survived by loving husband of 63 years, Michael Makuch; daughter, Kathy, married to Father Edward Pehanich; granddaughter, Irene Pehanich; also by nieces and nephews. Verna was a 1950 graduate of Windber High School and was employed at the Kay Artley Sewing Factory, Johnstown, PA. She later worked at Bestform Foundations for a number of years until her retirement in 1992. Verna was a faithful life member of Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church of Windber, where she sang for many years in the choir and worked with the Women's Club. She also served with the staff making pirohi and helping prepare foods and meals for the annual church picnics and funerals. Family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, from 9:15 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Orthodox Church of Windber, with Father Miles Zdinak and Father Edward Pehanich. Committal to follow at church cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Meek & Dalla Valle Funeral Home of Windber.
