Portage, PA - MAUL - Walter E. "Jeep," 87, of Portage, passed away on Dec. 10, 2025, in Johnstown. He was born on March 21, 1938, at home in Portage Township. He was the son of Francis C. and C. Irma (Benton) Maul. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Adam Maul; daughter-in-law, Kim (Thomas) Maul; and his siblings, Richard (Pearl) Maul and JoAnne Lamar. He is survived by his loving wife, Myrna (Rush) Maul, of Portage, and their children, Kenneth Maul, and his wife Sheila, of Spring City, PA; Bill Maul; Rodger Maul; Sherry, wife of Ron Cadwallader; and Shelly, wife of Jamie Cadwallader, all of Portage. Walter is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and his Pro Disposal family and close friend, Sherri (Bellvia) Borlie. He was the brother of Alfred Maul, and his wife Linda, and Tom Maul, and his wife Sandy, and brother-in-law of Dave Lamar. Walter was formerly employed by Hills Department Stores and lastly by Pro Disposal. He was a life member and former officer with the Portage Volunteer Fire Company. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Portage, where he served as one of the organists. He enjoyed going to the Red Buck Hunting Camp every year and looked forward to family reunions and get-togethers. Family was everything to Walter. He cherished every moment he had with his wife, Myrna and their family. The Maul Ffmily will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, from 9 a.m. until time of noon funeral service at First Lutheran Church in Portage, Katie (Maul) McCullough, officiant. Committal will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Walter's name to First Lutheran Church, 906 Caldwell Ave., Portage, PA, and/or the Portage Volunteer Fire Company, 721 Main St. Portage, PA 15946.
