New Germany, PA - KNISEL - William A. Jr. "Bill," 90, New Germany, entered eternal rest October 2, 2025, at home. Born April 15, 1935, in Portage, son of William A. Sr. and Julia (Saylor) Knisel. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Michele Knisel; infant sister, Dorothy; sister, Rosellia Knisel; and brothers, Edward, and Walter. Survived by loving wife of 60 years, Doris (Freidhoff) Knisel; daughter, Lynne, wife of Allen Sauter; granddaughters, Krista Mader, Karley Chiodo, and Tricia Sauter; grandsons, Derek and Jacob Sauter (Meghan); and great granddaughters, Emilee, Ana, and Mira. Bill was a graduate of Wilmore High School class of 1952. A veteran of the US Army, he was stationed in Hawaii, where he became an expert marksman. After the Army, Bill spent 38 years as an overhead crane operator with Bethlehem Steel and Johnstown America Corp. He enjoyed bowling, hitting the golf course, and yes, playing cards like a shark in the water. He was ruthless at the table! Bill was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Germany and the St. Michael American Legion Post 551. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday October 3, at Charles O. Dimond Funeral Home, Inc., South Fork. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday October 4, at Immaculate Conception, Father Joseph C. Nale, celebrant. Committal, St. Mary's Cemetery, New Germany. Military rites by St. Michael American Legion Post 551.
